Championship Wednesday; Twin Falls, Filer, Wendell, Dietrich boy’s basketball teams claim district titles

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — It was a big night for Magic Valley teams as four district championships were on the line.

Twin Falls 51, Minico 49
The best of three series goes to the Bruins as Twin Falls claims its first Championship since 2015.
It was another instant classic between the two, as the Bruins held on for the title.

Minico eyed a conference three-peat, but it wasn’t meant to be for the Spartans.
The Spartans were without big man Jayden McKenzie, who left the game early in the first quarter with an injury.
Sophomore Trey Billings erupted for 25 points in the win, while junior guard Ty Hess scored 16.

Filer 63, Kimberly 57
Despite trailing by seven at the half, the Wildcats battled back on its home court and came away with its second straight Sawtooth Central Idaho Championship.

Preston Volle had a game-high 24 points in the win, while Owen Grant had 20 for Filer. Xavier Kelsey finished with 11.
Broden Anthony paced Kimberly with 20 points. Ryker Larson had 13 and Gerwin Jeschke scored 11.
Filer advances to the state tournament, while Kimberly will compete in a play-in game on Saturday at Mountain Home.

Wendell 55, Soda Springs 39
The Trojans won the 3A South East Idaho Championship, beating Soda Springs 55-39 at American Falls High School to claim its first district title in over a decade.

Wendell joined the South East Idaho Conference this year, along with Declo.
Wendell already clinched a state tournament berth after beating West Side in the semi-finals

Dietrich 72, Carey 50.
After a close first half with Dietrich leading by 10, the Blue Devils would explode in the third quarter as Dietrich would win the Sawtooth Conference title for the first time since 2021.

Jerome will play against Minico on the road Friday for second place in the Great Basin Conference and a spot at the state tournament.

Camas County 39, Richfield 33
Camas County will play Carey for a spot at the state tournament. Carey will host the game on Thursday.
