TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Death. Taxes. Valley basketball.

The Valley Vikings (22-0) will enter the 2A state tournament with a perfect record after beating Hagerman 69-51 in the Snake River Championship on Tuesday night.

After a back-and-forth couple of minutes, the Vikings would use its high-powered offense and tenacious defense to jump out to a 20-8 lead after a quarter.

From there, Valley kept its foot on the gas and led 40-24 at the break.

Hagerman, led by Ky Kendall and Martin Gonzalez, would battle back in the third and cut the deficit to 10. The Vikings would respond on a big run and lead by 21 through three.

The Vikings would coast and go on to win 69-51.

Nathan Christensen had a team-high 21 points in the win, with Josh Hardy right behind him with 20.

Pedro Robles would score 11 to also finish in double figures.

While the Vikings won its second straight district title, they’re ready to get back on the practice court and showcase what they got at the state tournament.

“Thank goodness we still have another week because we’re not at our best yet and we still improve this entire week,” Christensen told KMVT. “Every guy on our team brings a little of something and once we put it all together, we’re a good team,” Robles added.

While the Vikings await what seed they’ll be at the state tournament, Hagerman will play for its season on Thursday.

The Pirates will play Oakley on Thursday night at Jerome. Winner advances to state with Valley
