Oakley and Kimberly boys basketball stave off elimination; Monday’s scores
JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Oakley Hornets boys basketball team watched their girl counterparts come home with a state championship this past weekend, but they had some work to do against Raft River, while Kimberly enjoyed an offensive explosion against Gooding.
Oakley and Raft River played at Jerome High School and this game was as back and forth as it could get for the first two and a half quarters as the game was tied at 18 midway through the third.
Ren Udy was a force for the Trojans and really kept them in the game, but the Hornets offense got its buzz back and ended the third on a 12-2 run.
Oakley hung on for a 45-32 win and will take on Glenns Ferry in the consolation finals on Tuesday.
Kimberly was leading Gooding at the half by 18 points and in the second half that lead just grew and grew thanks to Broden Anthony and a handful of impressive and-one layups.
When it was all said and done Kimberly advanced to take on Filer in the de facto district championship Wednesday night. If Filer wins they will head to state, if Kimberly wins it sets up a winner-take-all game three between the two teams on Thursday.
2A Scores
Glenns Ferry 45, Murtaugh 43
The Red Devils came back from 38-15 down to tie it up at 43, but a last minute go-ahead bucket from Glenns Ferry’s Aaron De Leon was the difference.
1A Scores
Camas County 49, Hansen 45
Richfield 51, Castleford 47
Hansen and Castleford elminated. Richfield and Camas will play Wednesday night in the consolation finals, the winner will take on the loser of Carey and Dietrich for a spot in a state play-in game.
