TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The College of Southern Idaho men’s and women’s basketball teams each played their final home games of the regular season on Saturday and the women picked up their biggest win of the season while the men suffered a disappointing loss.

The Lady Golden Eagles sprinted out to a fast start in their game putting up 24 in the first quarter. The second was a continuation of solid offensive play and CSI went into the halftime break with a 10 point lead.

Kayla Porray had 13 points for CSI in the first half on her sophomore day and she continued her solid play in the second half as she poured in nine more points for a game and career-high of 22.

CSI continued outscoring the Cardinals in the third quarter when sophomore Mariah Mons hit two three pointers as she scored 10 in the quarter and CSI headed to the forth up 58-41.

CSI made it four straight quarters outscoring NIC in the fourth and coasted to a 74-52 win that moved them into a tie for first place in the conference.

However the Golden Eagles now own the head-to-head tiebreaker against North Idaho (2-1) so if they win both road games next weekend at Snow College and Utah State University-Eastern they will host the Region 18 Tournament on March 13-14.

In the men’s game the Golden Eagles endured their slowest start of the season thus far as they had just 22 points at the half and trailed by 21.

CSI shot just 23% from the field in the first half which was a stark contrast to the 44% of NIC.

In the second half things got a little better for CSI as they outscored NIC 45-34 but the shooting struggles continued as the team shot just 31% in the second.

Amarco Doyle was the lone bright spot for CSI on Saturday afternoon as the Australian poured in a game high 24 points on 8/12 shooting and five three-pointers.

Unfortunately though for the Golden Eagles the bad first half would be too much to overcome as they fell 77-67 in the final home game of the season.

CSI men’s team has two more road games at Snow College and USU-Eastern next weekend and need to win both to stay in the second seed of the Region 18 Tournament that begins March 7-8 at Snow College.
