Multiple area teams leave state basketball with trophies

NAMPA, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — While the Oakley Hornets took home the ultimate prize, winning the 2A Championship, many other area teams brought home trophies back to the Magic Valley.

5A

Jerome 41, Skyline 33

The Tigers take home the consolation trophy with an eight-point win over Skyline.

Jensen Cook continued her impressive tournament with an 18 point performance along with five rebounds.

Emma Allen had six points and a game-high 14 rebounds for the Tigers.

4A

McCall-Donnelly 46, Kimberly 41

The Bulldogs fall to the Vandals in the consolation final. Kimberly shot just over 18 percent from three in the loss and was outrebounded 32-23.

Sophomore Taya Plew scored 15 for Kimberly, while freshman Brooklyn VerWey had 10.

2A

Valley 60, Lapwai 50

A third-place trophy is coming back to Valley after the Viking’s strong shooting performance.

Valley shot 44 percent from the floor as Lexi Huettig led all scorers with 21 points and had nine rebounds.

Joanie Lewis scored 10 and Alora Godfrey had nine points and nine rebounds.

Carey 42, Salmon River 38

Carey brings home a third-place trophy in a back-and-forth battle.

Andie Simpson scored 16 points to lead the Panthers in the win. Paige Black scored eight and was 6-6 from the free-throw line.

Challis 43, Dietrich 33

The Blue Devils come up short in the consolation final on a poor shooting day. Dietrich shot 17.5 percent from the field and just over nine percent from three-point.

Kaitlyn Wannamaker had 16 points and 15 rebounds for Dietrich.
