The Jerome School District gets students ready for the school year

JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —Back-to-school season is here, and the Jerome School District was helping get kids ready!
Thursday, the district hosted the sixth annual “Ready For School” event.
Parents and children from around the town came to pick up the necessities for the new year.
Students grabbed their favorite backpack filled with school supplies.
“I don’t think they understand the kids that can’t get the supplies to come to school and then that goes into the teachers, so if we can help our families than it doesn’t put a burden on our teachers and our kids can get the supplies they need. So families can worry about other things they need, we have so many families that work two jobs or barely make ends meat, and this helps them take one thing off their plate,” Volunteer Deloris Argyle, said about the importance of this event.
Any left over backpacks will go to schools in Jerome for other kids in need or ones couldn’t come to the event.
