Wapiti Fire scorches more than 125,000 acres
GRANDJEAN, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The lightning-caused Wapiti Fire has now consumed 125,429 acres and remains 12% contained.
1,325 personnel are assigned to the fire that started on July 24th in Grandjean.

Aerial resources identified heat zones across the fire ahead of the strong winds that were forecasted for the area. While a significant amount of precipitation is expected to fall over the Wapiti Fire, it won’t be enough to extinguish the flames.
Firefighter and public safety remain the highest priority in all management decisions.
State Highway 21 remains closed from MP84 to MP126 for public and firefighter safety. Highway 75 remains open.
