Redfish Lake Lodge owners grateful for community support following closure
STANLEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Redfish Lake Recreation Complex is back open after closing due to a wildfire in the area.
The Bench Lake Fire started almost three weeks ago, burning about 2,600 acres.
Fire crews now have it mostly contained, allowing the complex to reopen over the past few days.
The owners say guests started trickling in this week, starting with those who had reservations, followed by the general public on Tuesday.
The complex was closed for 16 days and now most of the area is reopen, except for a few destinations.
“Guests need to stay 300 away from the Point Campground that is closed and the Inlet Campground on the far end of the lake is still closed,” Jeff Clegg, owner of the lodge explained. “We’re still doing our boat shuttle service if guests want to hike up to the where we call it the Cramer, Alpine Lake area, that’s all wide open. It’s just the Bench Lake Trail and the Fishhook Trail that are closed.”
The family wants to thank the firefighters for everything they have done to protect the complex and the community for their continued support.
“There’s been so many prayers and words spoken and heartfelt wishes on our behalf,” Audra Crouch Clegg, owner of the lodge exclaimed. “Truly the Lodge and the Redfish Complex has been protected and we’re so blessed. We can’t thank the firefighters enough for all they have done to protect this area.”
The U.S. Forest Service does warn that people will still see fire crews operating in the recreation complex and along Highway 75.
