Burley High School graduate Mikah Jones wins multiple awards at Distinguished Young Women National Finals

MOBILE, Ala. —A recent high-school graduate from Burley gained national recognition at the 67th annual Distinguished Young Women National Finals.
According to Distinguished Young Women, Mikah Jones of Burley High School won multiple awards last weekend at the 2024 Distinguished Young Women National Finals.
Jones graduated from Burley High School in 2024, where she served as the school’s student body president.
She was selected as the Distinguished Young Woman of North Mini-Cassia in April 2023 and named Distinguished Young Woman of Idaho in October 2023. Jones traveled to Mobile, Alabama, to compete and connect with other winners.
The Distinguished Young Women program provides more than $1 billion in scholarships and aims to empower young women through workshops, nationwide connections, and self-confidence.
Jones received preliminary awards in the fitness and self-expression categories. Jones received an additional $1,000 scholarship for each category.
On the event’s final day, judges selected Jones as one of eight finalists for the title of Distinguished Young Woman of America. Jones received an additional $5,000 scholarship for the feat.
Jones will begin her first semester at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, this September. When she grows up, Jones plans to become an actress. Jones received $18,950 in scholarship money on the local, state, and national levels.
