Two crop duster planes collide in midair near Arco

**UPDATE: Butte County Coroner identified the deceased pilot as 43-year-old Sage Teichert.

ARCO, Idaho — Two crop duster airplanes crashed west of the City of Arco/Butte County Airport on Thursday.

According to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, the two planes collided in midair around 12:30 p.m. and landed in a grassy field nearby. One of the pilots died, the other suffered life-threatening injuries, and their condition is unknown at this time.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are currently investigating the crash, the sheriff’s office said.
