SALT LAKE CITY, UT (CNN) — Officers with the Salt Lake City Police Department, Utah Highway Patrol, and Campus Security moved in on hundreds of pro-Palestine protesters at the University of Utah on Monday.

Organizers said it was an effort to push the university to divulge its ties to Israel.

The University of Utah issued a statement Monday night instructing the demonstrators to take their tents down immediately and leave.

The university said demonstrators do not have the right to set up structures or camp overnight.

The statement warned if they did not stand down, law enforcement would remove them and there would be consequences for students, faculty, and community members.
