Plane en route from Oregon to Idaho crashed Sunday evening leaving no survivors

A small plane crashed into a remote area of central Oregon, authorities did not specify the number of passengers in the single-engine plane.

MADRAS, ORE (KMVT/KSVT) — A small plane crashed into a remote area of central Oregon, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, they report that there were no survivors.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said a 911 call came in around 7:40 p.m. Sunday, and reported the crash outside the city of Madras, deputies found the site with the help of Oregon power company officials.

A Facebook post by the sheriff’s office said that “Due to the extent of the crash there were no survivors.”

Authorities did not specify the number of passengers in the single-engine plane. The sheriff’s office says it will not release the names of the victims until identities are confirmed and families are notified.

The National Transportation Safety Board said the crash involved a Piper P-A-32, the plane was heading to an unknown location in Idaho from Aurora, Oregon

The NTSB will oversee the investigation along with the Federal Aviation Administration.
