Reed’s Dairy in Idaho Falls suffered loss of original milking barn due to fire, cause is still unknown
Original report from KIFI
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The cause of the fire Thursday afternoon at Reed’s Dairy production facility in Idaho Falls is still unknown and under investigation.
Multiple fire crews were called to the fire at one of Reed’s Dairy buildings on Broadway Street in Idaho Falls, which was mainly used for processing their dairy products.
When the firefighters arrived, they saw visible flames and heavy smoke coming from the attic of the building. During the blaze, the roof of the building collapsed, and the structure sustained severe damage and is considered a total loss.
Alan Reed, CEO of Reed’s Dairy said that the part of the building that caved in was the original milk barn of the family dairy. He said that they will be able to bounce back from the incident, but it was a difficult day.
No one was injured in the blaze, and no animals were inside the facility; the fire did not spread to any of the other surrounding buildings; however, one structure did sustain some fire damage.
The company thanked the Idaho Falls first responders on their Facebook page saying in part.
“We appreciate everything the Idaho Falls Fire Department and the Idaho Falls Police Department did to contain the fire which took place yesterday. We also appreciate the outpouring of messages from the entire community.
The building which is lost was our original milk barn, so the sentimental loss is profound for our family.
We will share more as we have updates regarding our production and availability of your favorite Reed’s Dairy products. We appreciate your patience as we cope with the new reality that lies ahead. "
