TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Twin Falls Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left one severely injured on Saturday morning.

Officers received a report of a crash at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Lois Street at 3:14 a.m., according to the Twin Falls Police Department. A 2014 Chrysler 200 was struck by a 2016 Chrysler 300 after the 300 failed to stop at the stop sign on Highland Avenue.

The crash sent both cars into a nearby lawn and left extensive damage on the northbound car’s side. The occupants of the eastbound vehicle fled the scene on foot. Police say they found the driver at his residence who was transported to the hospital. They also found four other occupants of the Chrysler 300 and transported them to the hospital for treatment.

The crash left the driver and sole occupant of the northbound car unconscious with severe injuries, according to police. The driver had to be flown by helicopter to Boise for emergency surgery where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday afternoon.

Police said the eastbound car was traveling at a “high rate of speed” when it crashed. Officers will have to acquire a warrant for the vehicle to determine its actual speed at the time of the crash.

While the crash remains under investigation, police are looking for anyone with doorbell or security camera footage from Saturday morning that may aid the investigation.

Police said that anyone with information should contact nonemergency dispatch at 208-735-4357.

The crash blocked the intersection for approximately four hours.
