Drug arrest in Jerome County
On Jan. 14, two Washington state men were arrested on drug trafficking charges in Jerome County. Idaho State Police arrested 47-year-old Ronald Frederic and 37-year-old Paul Engler following a traffic stop. According to the probable cause affidavit, the trooper noticed the Dodge Charger had expired registration stickers and proceeded to pull the vehicle over. Court documents show the trooper noticed both occupants with darkened fingertips, rough-appearing skin and torch lighters throughout the vehicle. During the trooper’s training, those indicators were consistent with felony drug use.
The Jerome County K-9 unit arrived and found M-30 Fentanyl pills and paraphernalia. Operating under a search warrant from a Jerome County Judge, they also found heroin, methamphetamine, multiple weapons, as well as $5100.
Engler faces felony charges of drug trafficking in heroin, methamphetamine as well as possession of a controlled substance, plus a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Frederic is charged with drug trafficking in heroin, methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.
The men are due back in court for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 21.
