TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Two male juvenile suspects are in custody after attempting to break into a novelty store on Sunday, according to the Twin Falls Police Department.

Police responded to Poindexter’s Novelty and Costume Store at 2:10 a.m. after a caller reported two people trying to break into the store, Sgt. Josh Hayes said.

As officers drove past the alleyway behind the store, they spotted a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old attempting to break through the back doors.

The suspects split up and fled on foot, leading officers on a brief chase around the block, according to Hayes.

Hayes said officers caught the 15-year-old after he tripped after crossing Second Avenue West, and the 16-year-old was caught along Main Avenue West.

The two juveniles were arrested on charges of burglary and resisting and obstructing officers, according to Hayes. The suspects were also cited with curfew violation and minor in possession of tobacco.

Hayes said police have reason to believe other buildings could have also been broken into. Hayes advised nearby business owners or residents to contact the Twin Falls Police Department to report any evidence of a break-in.
