Suspect of police standoff, Tyrone Grigg, appears in court

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —The suspect from this week’s police standoff in Twin Falls appeared before a judge today for his initial court appearance.

Tyrone Grigg is facing felony charges of second-degree kidnapping and three counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement.

According to Twin Falls Police, multiple units responded to a domestic disturbance call just before 6 am on Wednesday at a home on Polk street.

Officers arrested Grigg after a six hour stand-off.

Grigg appeared in court by video today for his initial appearance, where he told the judge he was not read his rights. The judge then repeated them for him.

The judge went on to explain Grigg’s charges and what they could result in if he’s found guilty.

The judge also gave him specific instructions regarding a “no contact order” while he awaits his next court hearing, “, you may not be within 300 feet of her person, you may not communicate with her, you may not cause anyone esle to communicate with her on your behalf, violation of this orders of crime, do you understand?”

The judge set Grigg’s bond at $500,000. Grigg’s representative then tried to lower it to $50,000, but the judge said no due to the severity of the case.
