Drunk driving suspect leads deputies on morning pursuit in Cassia County

CASSIA COUNTY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A drunk driving suspect led Cassia County deputies on a Saturday morning pursuit.

A deputy initiated a traffic stop at 6:30 a.m. after observing a red sedan traveling in the opposite lane on U.S. Highway 30 near Freedom Park in Burley, according to the Cassia County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver fled after failing to comply with the deputy’s commands, according to the sheriff’s office. The driver led deputies onto Interstate 84 and into Minidoka County before reentering Cassia County.

Deputies struck the sedan with stop sticks before performing a PIT maneuver and ending the chase at the intersection of 200 North Road and Idaho Route 77.

The suspect was arrested on a charge of DUI, as well as being charged with several other felony charges, according to the sheriff’s office.

The incident is currently under investigation.
