BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Gov. Brad Little’s office has now set up an automated phone line for Idaho voters to voice their opinions on the school choice bill sitting on his desk.

People can call 208-334-2100, and the system will ask if you are calling about House Bill 93.

It then directs you to choose whether you want Gov. Brad Little to approve or veto the bill.

If approved, the bill would provide an annual, refundable tax credit of up to $5,000 for “qualified expenses” for grade school children and $7,500 for students with disabilities. The expenses include nonpublic school tuition, tutoring, textbooks, and other costs.

The bill states it would have a maximum fiscal impact of 50 million dollars. The Idaho Senate approved the bill during Wednesday’s legislative session in a 20-15 vote.

During his January State of the State address, Gov. Little said he would only consider a proposal that meets the same standards as public schools.
