WASHINGTON (KMVT/KSVT) — Idaho politicians are reacting to Donald Trump’s inauguration and his plans for his second term in office.
Trump was sworn in on Monday in the Capitol Rotunda, promising a “revolution of common sense” and declaring that the government faces a “crisis of trust.”
Sen. Mike Crapo released a statement saying that Americans reelected Trump to restore economic and international strength.
“He ran a campaign on conservative policies that will allow our communities to grow and thrive, restore peace in tumultuous regions plagued by war and signal to our adversaries that power has once again returned to the White House,” Sen. Crapo said. “The Trump-Vance Administration will replace policies of appeasement with those of carefully applied force, support economic growth and improve our global competitiveness.”
Crapo said it was an honor to participate in the inauguration and looks forward to the hard but necessary work ahead.
Gov. Brad Little was also in the Capitol for the inauguration. Gov. Little reiterated Trump’s “revolution of common sense” promise.
“An air of true excitement and hope has overcome our great nation on this historic day,” Gov. Little said. “I am prepared to work hand in hand with President Trump and his administration to put the dysfunction of the past four years behind us and usher in prosperity and strength for the people of America.”
Sen. Jim Risch and Rep. Mike Simpson released statements on X congratulating Trump and welcoming him back into office.
