Water deal still in progress as initial deadline passes
BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A water deal should be close to the finish line as November approaches.
With an initial deadline for a deal on Oct. 1 passed, the sides continued to progress, agreeing to keep the talks going to reach an agreement.
Lt. Governor Scott Bedke said the hard work is done, and they are still very close to the finish line. But it’s still a process that needs to follow the steps to be completed.
“All the groundwater districts, all the surface water entities, they will sign off on the agreement,” Lt. Gov. Bedke said. “The asterisk will be that they need to go check with their members and have their ratification.”
Lt. Governor Bedke said that he wants this to be an airtight agreement that farmers can live with for the next decade.
