Students Learning Trade Skills
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —On Thursday, 80 students from around the Magic Valley gathered to learn important trade skills.
The construction expo was held at the Twin Falls school district’s career and technical education facility. It featured different stations like roofing, electrical, and drywall. Students rotated around each station, learning new skills and asking professionals about their jobs throughout the day.
“We’re lacking young people going into the trades. And were hoping that doing something like this for them can help them see different opportunities they have after high school.”
Students who took the construction class in the Twin Falls school district can prove their skills and even get a summer job.
“It’s a lot of fun to learn the different trades. I’ve done a little bit of framing and roofing here and there, but never anything with flooring or electric, or some of the other trades. So, it’s been fun learning some new stuff, making some new friends, taking a day off school”
The event continued Friday, where Students framed six sheds that will eventually help with scholarships for graduating seniors.
