BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Melanie Gibb took the stand Thursday morning in the murder trial of Chad Daybell as the second week of testimony continues.

If you remember from the Lori Vallow Daybell trial, Melanie Gibb is the former best friend of Vallow Daybell, who testified about the extreme beliefs of Chad and Lori.

Gibb testified Thursday morning show she had met Chad during the summer of 2017 at a religious camping trip, and that she met Lori at a church building in October 2018 where Gibb was teaching a class and Lori was in the audience.

She also testified about how Chad and Lori met at a conference and that the two appeared to be extremely interested in each other, even though Lori was married to Charles Vallow.

Gibb talked about Lori and Chad’s multiple lives, that Lori had mentioned she had lived many multiple lives and had once been married to Maroni. She spoke about Lori sharing the concept of light and dark souls.

Prosecutor Lindsey Blake “Do you recall when Lori first started talking to you about people being... becoming dark?

Gibb “I would say sometime between January and February of 2019.

Blake “Do you recall the first person she talked about becoming dark? The first specific person.”

Gibb “Yes. It was Charles Vallow.”

Blake “Did she tell you where she had received that information?

Gibb “Yes, she received it from Chad.”

After the lunch break session, Gibb continued to testify and Defense Attorney John Prior was questioning her about her dealings with Chad Daybell, specifically during the pod cast session. However, cross examination was cut short as court needed to be finished by 3:15 p.m. for another hearing. Gibb will return to the stand Friday morning for more cross examination by Prior at 8:30 a.m.
