MOSCOW, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Wednesday, April 17, was the deadline for Bryan Kohberger’s defense team to provide an alibi for the night of the murder of four University of Idaho students.

In a last-minute court filing by Public Defense Attorney Anne Taylor just before 5 p.m. Wednesday, an alibi of sorts was submitted to the court.

Kohberger has been charged with the stabbing death of four University of Idaho students in November 2022 at their off-campus home in Moscow.

Taylor submitted to the court this response as an alibi of defense.

“Mr. Kohberger intends to offer testimony of Sy Ray, CSLI expert, cell tower, cell phone and other radio frequency, to show that Bryan Kohberger’s mobile device was south of Pullman, Washington and west of Moscow on November 13, 2022, that Bryan Kohberger’s mobile device did not travel east on the Moscow-Pullman Highway in the early morning hours of November 13, and thus could not be the vehicle captured on video along the Moscow-Pullman highway near Floyd’s Cannabis shop.”

Additional information as to Mr. Kohberger’s whereabouts as the early morning hours progressed, including additional analysis by Mr. Ray will be provided once the State provides the discovery requested and is now subject to an upcoming Motion to Compel.

Kohberger is expected to be back in court on May 14, for a change of venue hearing on a motion from the defense.
