Buhl girls/ Wood River and Wendell boys advance to soccer state championships

All three teams will look to capture state championships on Saturday.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT)—State soccer continued on Friday, and three area teams looked to advance to their respective state finals.

The Buhl girls’ team was first to book its ticket after beating Fruitland 1-0 on Golden Goal by Kierra Thompson with an assist from Pemberley Kimball

The Indians advanced to their first state championship in program history.

Next up it was Wendell taking on McCall-Donnelly. The Trojans would score in the closing minutes with a score from Cesar Muralles to advance to the state championship on Saturday. They will take on CDA Charter on Saturday.

Next up it was Wood River who made easy work of Blackfoot and advanced to its second straight title game.

The Wolverines advance to the state championship for the second straight year by beating Blackfoot 5-0. Goals from Jackson Wallace (2), Jack Tierney, Maicol Quinones, and Hayden Gvozdas to power the Wolverines through. Wood River will play Vallivue for the championship on Saturday.

6A Boys

Thunder Ridge 3, Canyon Ridge 2

  • Canyon Ridge is eliminated

5A Boys

Wood River 4, Blackfoot 0

  • The Wolverines advance to the state championship for the second straight year. Goals from Jackson Wallace (2), Jack Tierney, and Hayden Gvozdas

Century 2, Twin Falls 1

  • Twin Falls is eliminated

5A Girls

Twin Falls 3, Wood River 1

  • Twin Falls advances to the consolation championship with the win. They will play Hillcrest on Saturday at 10:00.
  • Wood River is eliminated

4A boys

Wendell 1, McCall-Donnelly 0

- The Trojans would score in the closing minutes with a score from Cesar Muralles to advance to the state championship on Saturday. They will take on CDA Charter on Saturday

Sun Valley Community School 4, Weiser 1

  • Sun Valley will play Bonners Ferry Saturday in the consolation championship at 10:30.

4A Girls

Buhl 1, Fruitland 0

  • The Buhl Indians beat Fruitland on Golden Goal to advance to the 4A state championship for the first time in program history! They will play the winner of No. 1 Sugar-Salem and No. 4 American Falls on Saturday.

Sun Valley Community School 2, CDA Charter 2 (Sun Valley advances 6-5 on PKs)

  • Sun Valley advances to the consolation championship after winning in penalty kicks. They will play Marsh Valley on Saturday at 10:00.
