Three area teams advance to soccer state semi-finals
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Thursday kicked off day one of the Idaho High School soccer state playoffs.
Three area teams advanced as the Wood River and Wendell boys, along with the Buhl girls will play in the semi-finals on Friday.
6A Boys
No. 1 Rocky Mountain 5, No. 8 Canyon Ridge 0
- Canyon Ridge will play in the consolation bracket Friday against Thunder Ridge at 11:00.
5A Boys
No. 1 Wood River 2, No. 8 Moscow 0
- Goals from Owen Walker and Hayden Gvozdaz powered the Wolverines to the semi-finals. Wood River will play No. 4 Blackfoot on Friday at 3:00.
No. 2 Vallivue 1, No. 7 Twin Falls 0
- The Bruins fall to the consolation bracket after conceding a goal in the final minute. Twin Falls will play in the consolation bracket on Friday against Century at 9:00
5A Girls
No. 3 Pocatello 2, No. 6 Twin Falls 0
- Twin Falls falls to Pocatello after going down to 10 girls. The Bruins will play Wood River in the consolation bracket Friday at 9:00
No. 2 Lewiston 5, No. 7 Wood River
- Wood River will play Twin Falls in the consolation bracket Friday against Twin Falls at 9:00.
4A Boys
No. 1 Wendell 5, No. 8 Weiser 3
- Wendell advance to the semi-finals to play No. 5 McCall-Donnelly. Kickoff on Friday set for 2:30.
No. 5 McCall-Donnelly 4, No. 4 Sun Valley Community School 1
- Sun Valley will play in the consolation bracket on Friday against Weiser at 10:30.
4A Girls
No. 6 Buhl 1, No. 3 Sun Valley Community School
- Keala Jaynes scored the lone goal with the assistance of Tesla Blackhurst as the Indians advanced to the semi-finals. Buhl’s first win at the state tournament since 2000. Buhl’s first win against Sun Valley since 2011. Buhl will play No. 2 Fruitland on Friday at 1:00.
- Sun Valley will play CDA Charter on Friday at 9:00 in the consolation bracket.
