Wood River boys soccer beats Canyon Ridge in a showdown; Tuesday Idaho prep soccer scores

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — In a highly anticipated matchup, the Canyon Ridge boys soccer team (2-1-1) hosted the Wood River Wolverines (3-0).
Wood River won the then 4A State Championship (now 5A) last fall but fell to Canyon Ridge in the District Championship.
Canyon Ridge moved up to the 6A Classification and is no longer in the Great Basin Conference.
After a 45-minute delay to the air quality, the action was underway.
In the 20th minute, the Riverhawks struck first as Ethan Williams found the back of the net.
Wood River would respond near the end of the first half as Jackosn Wallace scored off a fantastic counterattack from the Wolverines.
The two sides were tied entering the second half, but Canyon Ridge quickly fell to a disadvantage with a red card and was forced to play with 10 men.
Wood River would capitalize as Alberto Romo would score to give the Wolverines a 2-1 win.
The Wolverines are back in action Thursday when they host Burley while Canyon Ridge will travel on Thursday to take on Middleton.
