CSI baseball and softball both close Arizona road trip at 2-3
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — While the weather in Idaho has been rainy, snowy and at times cold this weekend, the College of Southern Idaho baseball and softball teams got to enjoy the warmth of the Arizona sun as each team played five games in three days.
Starting with the baseball team which, after picking up their first win of the season on Tuesday took on the Scottsdale Community College Fighting Artichokes unfortunately losing the series 3-2 overall.
CSI lost game one 10-2 before bouncing back for the biggest win of the season on Friday afternoon in game one of a doubleheader. The Golden Eagles would then fall in the second game of the doubleheader 14-8.
On Saturday in the final two games of the series, the Golden Eagles were shut out 4-0 in game one before a 7-6 comeback win in game two to close out the series on a high note.
The next games for the CSI will be at home on Valentine’s Day as they host Weber State University’s club team. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
Over to the softball team, the eighth-ranked Golden Eagles had yet another disappointing weekend to open the season because like baseball, they finished their weekend in the desert 2-3 overall.
CSI lost game one on Thursday to Phoenix College, 7-2 and then suffered a tough 1-0 loss to Yavapai College in game two to close the day.
On Friday morning, the Golden Eagles bounced back against Central Arizona College in an 8-0 win, but fell in game two on Friday to Eastern Arizona College, 7-3 for the second time this season.
Finally on Saturday, also like the baseball team softball closed out the trip with a win, a 5-0 shutout over the College of Southern Nevada.
Up next softball will head to Fort Myers, Florida to take on a pair of top-ten teams as they will play six games in three days from February 13-15.
