TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The College of Southern Idaho men’s basketball team sunk 18 three-pointers in a 94-61 destruction of Utah State University-Eastern, meanwhile the women’s team struggled to put the ball in the basket as they faltered in conference play for the second time this week.

The Golden Eagles and Eagles traded baskets for the majority of the first half, but a 3-for-18 second quarter shooting the ball had the CSI women down five points at the half.

Kennedy Gillette had 11 of her 14 points in the first half, but in the third Alina Sapilak added some more points as she scored nine in the highest-scoring quarter for the Golden Eagles as they took an 8-point lead late in the third, but had it cut to three ahead of the fourth.

A Samara Morrow three-pointer with 7:44 remaining was the final bucket of the game for CSI as the Golden Eagles saw a six point lead slowly slip away with no pushback offensively as CSI drops its second straight conference game 54-46 to USU-Eastern.

The women’s team sang the national anthem prior to the men’s game and it seemed to help the men’s shooting at least as the Golden Eagle men sunk 18 three-pointers in this game.

Khayri Dunn led the way with 23 points and drilled seven threes. Dale Griffin (17 points) and Gerry Guerrero (11) each hit three three-pointers in a game where CSI shot 50% from behind the arc.

Pair that with some solid defense on the other end which included eight blocks and three steals and you have a great recipe for success as the CSI men get themselves back into the win column.

Up next both teams will head to Coeur d’Alene next Saturday to take on North Idaho College for the second time this season, the women are set to tip at 2:00 p.m. MT and the men will follow at 4:00 p.m. MT.
