CSI basketball teams win in Colorado; both improve to 18-4 overall

RANGELY, Colorado (KMVT/KSVT) — The College of Southern Idaho basketball teams were in action on Saturday as both the men’s and women’s teams hit the road to take on Colorado Northwestern Community College.

Starting with the women who were coming off a loss to Salt Lake Community College on Thursday, and they bounced back in a big way by taking it to Colorado Northwestern winning by 21 in a 67-46 ballgame.

Kennedy Gillette poured in 27 points for CSI and Savannah Stoker was the only other player in double figures with 10. The CSI women improved to 18-4 overall with the win.

On the men’s side, two halves weren’t enough, and neither was one overtime as this one finally came to a close in double overtime as CSI’s Marcus Fizer Jr. Hit the game-winning layup as time was expiring as the Golden Eagles came away with a thrilling 83-82 win.

Walker Timme and Tanner Hayhurst led the team with 17 points each as the Golden Eagles also improved to 18-4 overall with the win.

Both squads will be back in town against Snow College on Thursday with the women at 5:00 p.m. and men at 7:00 p.m.
