CSI women’s basketball falls in top-25 matchup against Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (KMVT/KSVT) — It’s Always a classic when the College of Southern Idaho and Salt Lake Community College meet on the hardwood.

That doesn’t always mean CSI comes out on top, however.

The No. 11 CSI women’s basketball team (17-4, 5-1 SWAC) suffers its first Scenic West Athletic Conference loss of the season falling to No. 18 Salt Lake Community College (16-4, 5-1 SWAC) on the road Thursday night.

Despite outrebounding Salt Lake 34-20, the Golden Eagles struggled to take care of the ball and had 26 turnovers.

Samara Morrow led CSI in scoring with 12 points on 4-7 shooting. Kennedy Gillette scored 11.

Ashley Garner off the bench had six points along with 10 rebounds (five offensive/five defensive).

With the loss, CSI is now tied for first place in the conference with Salt Lake. The Golden Eagles beat them 61-58 on Jan. 8.

The Golden Eagles are back in action Saturday on the road against Colorado Northwestern Community College.
