College of Southern Idaho basketball teams wrap up undefeated homestand
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The College of Southern Idaho men’s and women’s basketball teams completed their respective homestands undefeated as both Golden Eagles squads picked up wins over Colorado Northwestern Community College on Saturday.
In the women’s game things were a little closer than the Golden Eagles would have liked through the first quarter as the teams were knotted at 18.
From there CSI allowed just 30 points in the final 30 minutes of game time, while also pouring in 53 in that time period thanks to Kennedy Gillette’s team-leading 18 as the Lady Golden Eagles move to 3-0 in conference play with a 71-48 win.
Kayla Porray and Savannah Stoker also reached double figures as both women scored 10, Stoker had a double double with 14 rebounds too.
In the men’s game CSI shot the lights out in the first half shooting 56% both from the field and from three as they hit 10 total in the first half to jump out to a 15 point lead.
Jalen Lyn and Gerry Guerrero each knocked down three threes each in the first half and Khayri Dunn added two more as part of his 13 first half points.
In the second things were much closer as CSI only outscored the Spartans by one, but that was more than enough for a 16-point, 95-79 victory.
Jalen Lyn led the way with 19 points off the bench, Amarco Doyle was right behind with 17, Walker Timme dropped in 16 and Khayri Dunn had 14 to round out those in double figures.
The CSI men also move to 3-0 in conference play and both teams will head to Utah State University-Eastern on Thursday night for their next games.
