CSI Golden Eagles upset No. 4 Salt Lake on Wednesday
It was another instant classic between the two squads.
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The College of Southern Idaho was the place to be Wednesday night for a rematch from the Region 18 Championship a season ago.
No. 15 CSI (14-3, 2-0 SWAC) hosted No. 4 Salt Lake Community College (13-5, 1-1 SWAC) for a highly anticipated game.
Salt Lake won the Region 18 title beating CSI 87-65 last season.
CSI were without Isaac Hawkins and Brandon Oloumou on Wednesday night.
It was another instant classic between the two squads.
After trailing by eight points with minutes to go in regulation, big plays like a three-pointer from Amarco Doyle and a huge layup inside from Walker Timme would help CSI tie the game and force overtime.
Khayri Dunn got in his bag and created space for a jumper followed by a massive three-pointer from Nathan Ahner.
Tanner Hayhurst iced the game with multiple trips to the free-throw line, and CSI upset No. 4 Salt Lake, winning 79-71.
Dunn would lead CSI in scoring with 18 points to go along with four rebounds and assists.
Hayhurst recorded his second double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds while Walker Timme recorded his first of the season with a 12 and 10 performance.
Doyle would be in double figures scoring with 14.
CSI continues SWAC play on Saturday at home against Colorado Northwestern Community College.
