CSI Lady Golden Eagles stave off No. 19 Salt Lake to improve to 2-0 in conference play

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A thrilling night at the College of Southern Idaho on Wednesday for a ranked Scenic West Athletic Conference game.
The No. 19 Salt Lake Community College women’s basketball team (13-4, 2-1 SWAC) took on CSI (14-3, 2-0 SWAC) for the first of three regular-season meetings between the two squads.
Salt Lake was 2-0 against CSI a season ago.
CSI led by four at the break, but Salt Lake would go on a 16-3 run in the third quarter to lead 41-39 entering the fourth.
The Golden Eagles would attack inside, create 11 points from the charity stripe in the fourth, take down Salt Lake winning 61-58, and move to 2-0 in conference play.
Three Golden Eagles scored in double figures as Samara Morrow led the way with 15 points to go along with five assists and two steals. Kennedy Gillette had 10 points.
Alina Sapilak was a big spark off the bench providing 14 points (3-6 3PT), along with three rebounds, and a game high four steals.
The Golden Eagles continue SWAC play on Saturday at home against Colorado Northwestern Community College.
