POCATELLO, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Carey Panthers are joining the Dietrich Blue Devils in the 1A Milk Bowl after a dominating 70-0 win over fifth seed Garden Valley.

Carey opened the scoring in this one on a Preston Wood passing touchdown and from there the Panthers were off to the races on both offense and defense.

On defense, Will Parke and Gabe Saili combined on a pick-six when Parke fumbled short of the goal line and Saili scooped it right up and brought it into the endzone. The Panthers blocked a punt for a safety a few drives later as well.

Then the offense got back to work for Carey as they led 40-0 at the halftime break and were able to take their foot off the gas in the second half scoring only 30 points instead on the way to the win.

Preston Wood finished with six passing touchdowns and a rushing score, connecting with Gabe Saili twice, AJ Black twice, and with Eddie Gamino.

Matthew Young had a 45 rushing score and Stockton Sears added an interception in the win.

Carey is 10-1 on the season with the team’s only loss coming all the way back in Week 2 to a Butte County team who will be playing in the 2A Milk Bowl next weekend as well.

Carey will play Dietrich in the 1A Milk Bowl and have to like their chances with a 54-6 win over the Blue Devils already under their belts this season.

Game is set for 7:00 Thursday at the ICCU Dome.
