Minico’s Preston Sonner-Cranney named final Friday Night Blitz Player of the Week

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The quarterfinals of the Idaho high school football playoffs are in the books with six area teams advancing to the semi-finals.
There were many great performances in the quarter-finals, but our final Friday Night Blitz Player of the Week goes to one Minico running back.
That distinction goes to Minicos Preston Sonner Cranney, who is now a 3x recipient of the award.
The senior running back continued to lead the Spartans into battle, racking up four rushing touchdowns, including the game-winning score, as the Spartans upset the Bishop Kelly Knights 41-35 in triple-OT.
To make it even sweeter for Minico, this was a rematch from earlier in the season where the Spartans lost by 12 points.
Sonner-Cranney now has 32 touchdowns including both regular season and playoffs as he and the Spartans look to keep the momentum going into the semi-finals.
Minico head coach Sherman Blaser spoke very highly of his senior running back.
“He has been a workhorse for us the whole season. A great kid and leader for our team. I believe he is the best player in the state,” Blaser told KMVT. “I am proud of the team for their determination and grit against BK (Bishop Kelly). They are a special group.”
No. 5 Minico will take on No. 1 Skyline in the semi-finals on Saturday.
Kickoff is set for 1:00 at the ICCU Dome in Pocatello.
