KIMBERLY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — This week marks the start of the first round of the Idaho high school playoffs, as many of our area teams are looking to capture a state championship.

While many teams are in action, some have first-round byes, including the Kimberly Bulldogs, who finished an undefeated non-conference season, led by our Player of the Week.

Congrats to Kimberly’s MaCraye Bruning as the last regular season Friday Night Blitz Player of the Week.

The junior quarterback led the Bulldogs to a 48-0 win over Gooding which cemented a first-round bye in the 4A state playoffs.

Bruning was 18-25 for 279 yards and five touchdowns, connecting with Mason Jensen twice, Ryker Larson, Joe Barrett, and Titus Osterman.

Kimberly offensive coordinator Simon Olsen said Bruning has been a solid game manager throughout the season.

“He knows we have talent all around him and he knows it is his job to get our talent the ball. Our coaching staff and our team have high expectations of him and he is doing a great job of stepping up to the level of play needed,” Olsen said. “His high level of play in the last few weeks, combined with a solid offensive line, talent at every position, and a stingy defense, has us feeling good about this year’s playoffs.”

No. 4 Kimberly will host the winner of No. 5 Fruitland/No. 12 Teton on November 8th in the quarterfinals.

If the Bulldogs do get Fruitland, it’ll be a rematch of the first game of the season, which Kimberly lost on the road 32-28.
