Play of the week: Wil Neilson's interception return touchdown
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — This past weekend was the final weekend of the regular season for Idaho high school football and as such the final weekend with a full slate of games to decide on a play of the week, but this week’s play of the week was a no-brainer simply for the stakes.
This week’s play of the week comes to us from Minico and Twin Falls’ conference title clash this past Friday night.
Twin quarterback Ty Hess takes the snap on the fourth down, but Minico senior linebacker Wil Neilson jumped the route and saw some green ahead of him to go along with a convoy of blockers as well.
From there the senior fought all they way to the endzone for the almost 70-yard touchdown return on the interception.
The Spartans kicker would nail the extra point as well to take a one point lead and the Minico defense held the rest of the way as this defensive touchdown by Neilson clinched the Great Basin Conference for the Spartans.
Up next Minico will rematch the team that ended their season last year, the Emmett Huskies, at home on Friday night in the first round of the 5A State football tournament.
