Hagerman Pirates win 2A Snake River Conference volleyball tournament
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Thursday was a big high school sports day across Idaho, even right here in town as the 2A Snake River Conference volleyball tournament was held at CSI between fourth-seed Hagerman and second-seed Oakley where the winner earned a trip to state.
These two teams only played once during the regular season, in a match taken by Oakley in four sets.
The Pirates upset the top-seeded Valley Vikings to get here.
First set Oakley got in rhythm as Natalie hardy spiked it perfectly for a big kill, but Hagerman answered immediately and powered through to take set one.
In the second set for Hagerman they sent out invites to a block party, but only their team was invited as the defense stood tall in the Pirates set two win as well.
Oakley tried its best to stay around, but this one would be all Hagerman as the four-seed in 2A will be heading to state as they take this one with an emphatic sweep over the Hornets, marking the first time in 11 years that the Pirates are going dancing.
The Chizum twins for Hagerman stuffed the state sheet as Ava recorded 13 kills and Addi recorded 47 digs in three sets.
Brooklyn Devries added 11 kills of her own as well as three aces, and Alexis Beutler tallied 10 assists.
Oakley will await the winner of Murtaugh and Valley on Saturday, with the winner of these final three teams taking that last state tournament berth for the district.
