TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Thursday was a loaded day of high school sports across Idaho and right here in town the Twin Falls Bruins volleyball team took on the Wood River Wolverines and swept them for the second time this week, this time to be named district champions.

In this second meeting of the week, Twin went down 9-3 in set one before battling all the way back to take it 27-25.

The Bruins also took set two putting the Wolverines on the brink of a sweep, but the visitors took a 24-21 lead in set three, but were unable to close it out as Twin Falls turned it on to come all the way back and win 26-24 for the sweep and conference title.

Twin Falls senior setter Josie Preucil talked about what going back to state means for the team as well as their biggest strength.

“I’m really excited this is our second year winning the district championship, so my junior and senior year and we won my freshman year as well which was cool so we’re super excited to move on to state and our biggest strength is our teamwork, we all get along super well and we just have so much fun playing together and just being friends on and off the court,” Preucil said.

Despite the loss Wood River will join the Bruins in the 5A state volleyball tournament in Idaho Falls after defeating Burley on Wednesday. Brackets will be released on Sunday
