Luttmer (Allen), Janet Arlene
February 15, 2025, Age 85

WENDELL, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Janet Arlene Luttmer (Allen), age 85, of Wendell, Idaho passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at her home in Wendell surrounded by her loving family.
Janet was born on July 11, 1939, in Twin Falls, Idaho, the daughter of Theodore and Nellie Olive Gardner. She was the last of five children. During her childhood, Janet lived in various places, including the Salmon Tract, Jerome, Bliss, and finally Hagerman, Idaho, where she graduated from high school.
Janet met her husband, Gerhard Luttmer, in Gooding, Idaho, at an LDS church dance. They were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on November 7, 1957. During their life together, they lived in various areas around the Magic Valley and Utah and settled in Hagerman, Idaho, on their farm, where they resided for 37 years. During this time, they had six children: four sons and two daughters. In 2001, they sold the farm and moved to Wendell, Idaho. Gerhard and Janet were married for 60 years until Gerhard passed away on April 27, 2018.
Janet was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved music and held many church callings as a music leader. She also served in the Relief Society and the Twin Falls LDS Temple. Janet loved to dance, especially with her husband Gerhard. Together, they served as dance directors for the LDS church. They were also called to a service mission at the Twin Falls Employment Center.
Janet loved her family. She always wanted everyone to get together for holidays and special occasions. She was the best cook, and everyone loved her Sunday dinner, especially her famous roast! She supported her children and grandchildren in all their activities and loved every minute of it.
In December 2020, Janet was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, which would eventually end her life. She was the strongest woman who fought all the way to the end, and she did it with a positive attitude and a smile on her face.
On October 30, 2021, she married Jerry Allen at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Wendell, Idaho. They spent just over three years together, giving each other companionship and love. Janet’s family would like to thank Jerry for taking such good care of her until the end and thank his family for accepting her as their own and helping take care of her when they could. Thank you also to the various church members, doctors, nurses, and those at Auburn Crest who also cared for Janet.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Allen; her children, Gerhard (Lori) Luttmer of Nampa, Connie (Larry) Scarrow of Jerome, Scott (Sandi) Luttmer of Hagerman, Steve (Kandie) Luttmer of Kimberly, and Tina (Trent) Siler of Twin Falls; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; one sister, Irene Tadlock; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerhard Luttmer; son, Theodore “Ted” Luttmer; parents, Theodore and Nellie Olive Gardner; and brothers, Theodore (Ted) Gardner, Ralph Gardner, and Lloyd Gardner.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 10:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Wendell, Idaho.
