TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — With Father’s Day now in the rearview mirror, look no further for his grilling needs the rest of the summer than this week’s focus of Salute to Idaho Agriculture.

Local meats and produce are in high demand anywhere, but finding these brands outside of farmers markets can be tricky and that’s where Meat and Potato Company comes in.

The company based in Twin Falls has made it their mission to be a one stop shop for local vendors every day.

“We try to source everything from as close to us as we possibly can. We have over 20 vendors now that we deal with. Small farms, small ranches to large processors and large producers,” Travis Dixon, the owner of Meat and Potato Co. Said.

Meat and Potato Co. works with vendors from almost all the cities in the Magic Valley from Buhl to right in Twin Falls. The company has also seen immense growth since beginning less than five years ago.

“Almost four years ago we started the e-commerce, so we were only on e-commerce for almost three years. Then this last September we opened our retail location and that’s helped tremendously. It’s also helped us expand that local market,” Dixon said.

And expanding the local market is exactly what the retail store at Meat and Potato Co. was built to do.

Dixon previously worked in food service distribution for large companies and saw firsthand the disconnect between them and local producers. This is something he wanted to address in his own business.

You deal with some of these smaller vendors, some of these people trying to get their businesses off the ground and there’s just no outlet. If you look at large retailers, it’s almost impossible for them to get in to large retailers so what we’re here to do is hopefully, give them an opportunity to display their products, support as many local people as we possibly can and then offer products you just can’t find at every grocery store,” Dixon said.

If you would like to get your hands on some local meats, like choice cuts of steak, bison, or seafood, head on down to Meat and Potato Company at 269 Addison Ave W in Twin Falls.
