Childers, Charlotte Juanita
January 13, 2025, Age 89

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Charlotte Juanita Childers peacefully passed away on January 13, 2025, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Twin Falls with her family members by her side.
Charlotte was born in Jerome, Idaho, on April 27, 1935, and was 89 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband – Don Childers, and two sons-in-law, Terry Bailey and Steve Ploss.
Don and Charlotte had four children – Gaylin (Pam) Childers, Janet Ploss, Rod (Linda) Childers, and Geneal (Jett) Lorenzen; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
Charlotte worked outside the home for many years, helping to provide for the family. She drove a school bus in Jerome, then worked in Twin Falls for many years at Buttrey’s Food Store; she would then come home to help in the fields and help with the animals - sheep, cattle, pigs, horses, 4-H, custom grain threshing and cooking for the field hands. The task didn’t matter to her; if it needed to be done, she jumped in and did it! Char never complained. She did the needed work and expected everyone around her to do the same.
She worked as a checker and at the customer service counter at Simerley’s in Wendell for 26 years and was well-respected by her co-workers. She expected everyone around her to pull their weight; did I mention this woman was only 4’ 11”; yet could work most everyone under the table.
Upon asking the family members what their memories were of Char, it was her strong grip and her genuine interest in what you had to say, many commented, “she was a firecracker!” She was born and raised in Idaho; she had a very sharp mind, we often said we didn’t need Google, just ask mom; she could tell you everyone’s name and their history along where they lived and had moved to. If you were looking for a place in the whole valley, she could direct you to the front door.
Charlotte and Don were known for driving around the valley, just for a weekend drive. They didn’t like to let any grass grow under their feet. They would be the first to help a neighbor in need or loan out their equipment or time, always with a smile.
The family will hold a celebration of life on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00 am, at the Wendell Senior Center located at 380 1st Ave. East in Wendell.
They are requesting, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Wendell Chapel.
