GOODING, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Mary Lou (Webb) Giles, 86, of Gooding, our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, aunt and sister, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 10, 2025 at her daughter’s home in Twin Falls.

Mary Lou was born in Shoshone on October 3, 1938 to Ray and Mary Dell Webb. She attended school in Shoshone and graduated from Shoshone High School in 1956.

When she was 16 years-old she had a ruptured appendix and was taken to Portland, Oregon. Her hometown and school came together and assisted with fund raising to send her to Portland by train. Mary Lou went through three surgeries and survived. It was a miracle.

She married Robert Giles on December 26, 1956. The couple resided in Shoshone and Gooding where Mary Lou worked and was a cook at several nursing homes.

Mary Lou was a member of the First Christian Church in Gooding. She volunteered at the Walker Center and at the Auxiliary Thrift store in Gooding.

Mary Lou is survived by: her daughter - Sherry James of Twin Falls; three sons – Bob Giles and Jerry Giles, both of Twin Falls and Wayne (Susan) Ivie of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren – Chelsea Giles, Josh (Amanda) Giles, Angela (Pat) Correll and Tony Silvaz; and two great grandchildren – Elliot Giles and Finnley Giles; her siblings – Ben Webb of Boise; James “Smokey” (Alice) Webb of Shoshone; Karen (Frank) Daniels of Florence, Arizona; and Calvin (Elaine) Webb of Fairfield.

She was preceded in death by: her husband – Bob Giles; her parents – Ray and Mary Dell Webb; her brothers – Mel Webb and Jesse Dean Webb; and son-in-law – Fritz James.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff at River Rock Assisted Living in Buhl, Hospice Visions and Desano’s Assisted Living for the loving care you provided to our mom.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11:00 am at the First Christian Church in Gooding.
