TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — As winter weather settles in, ski resorts are gearing up for the upcoming season. Here is some information regarding the weather and the status of nearby ski resorts.

Magic Mountain:

Depending on the snow levels, Magic Mountain Ski Resort plans to open on Dec. 7.

From Dec. 21 to Jan. 5, it intends to be open on the Holidays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The resort will then be open Thursday through Sunday after Jan. 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Magic Mountain has received 13 inches of snow so far and requires 18 inches to open, according to the resort.

Things will trend quieter after some initial snow for Tuesday throughout the day. After that, things look dry and chilly.

Pomerelle Mountain:

Pomerelle Mountain Resort has yet to establish a date for opening day, as the mountain is waiting for more snowfall, according to the resort. The resort continues to prepare for the upcoming season.

The mountain has received 10 inches of snow over the last 48 hours, according to the resort’s website.

The resort will benefit from the system moving from Monday to Tuesday. Although there may be an additional 1 to 3 inches, there is plenty of cold air in place to make their own snow.

Sun Valley:

Sun Valley Resort’s opening day will be Thanksgiving, with festivities starting at River Run at 9 a.m., according to the resort’s website. River Run Plaza will have music from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bald Mountain has received 18 inches of snow over the past seven days, for 36 inches so far this season, according to the website. Dollar Mountain has received 8 inches of snow over the past seven days, 14 inches this season.

There is plenty of cold air in place, with some light snow showers Monday through Tuesday. That cold air through the holiday weekend will allow for plenty of snow making.
