TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Now that the decision for Bickel Elementary School to become a dual immersion magnet school has been made, the Twin Falls School District now has to address how the school zone map will be redrawn.

The district says it wants to ensure that parents have an opportunity to participate in the process. A meeting was held at Bickel on Tuesday night to provide time for families to learn about the options for changing the attendance zones and ask questions.

“We have two board meetings,” says Superintendent Brady Dickinson. “We have one over at Oregon Trail Elementary (Wednesday, Feb. 26th) and that’s when the board will be hearing and looking at the proposed attendance zones. Next Monday at 7 p.m. at the District’s Board Office boardroom, that’s when they’ll take formal action on the boundaries.”

According to the school district, its administrative team has reviewed the current boundaries and evaluated student numbers in this area and drafted the new zone boundaries. In addition to the parent meeting, the TFSD administration and Board of Trustees are still asking for written feedback from families that would be affected by this change. Feedback must be in by Feb. 27th.
