Dereka Kay graduated from The University of California, Berkeley in May 2022. In Berkeley, Dereka worked for NBC Bay Area News as a content producer. She was also a producer and investigative reporter for the UC Berkeley Investigative Reporting Program (IRP). While at the IRP she contributed to a national investigation about AI surveillance software that was published in the Dallas Morning News.
