Delta Dental installs bottle-filling stations in Idaho schools

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Delta Dental installed water fountains and bottle-filling stations at 12 schools across Idaho.

The Rethink Your Drink Grant Program started in 2022 and has impacted 41 schools. This program allows students to choose water over sugar-sweetened beverages like sodas.

With the grant program, the school and students receive reusable water bottles, dental care kits, water fountains and bottle-filling stations. Water helps with health benefits, especially oral health.

“One of the most important things is encouraging children to choose water over sugary drinks, like energy drinks, soda, juice,” manager Shana Kales said. “They can contribute to tooth decay and cavities. It’s the most common childhood disease, but it’s pretty preventable. One of the ways to do that is by choosing water over those sugary drinks.”

The application opens Feb. 1.
