TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Early Friday morning members of the Twin Falls Police Department were dispatched to Sundance Road for a domestic disturbance, and part of that call indicated that shots may have been fired within the residence.

As a result of the call, the police activated their combined Twin Falls Police and Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team; they responded along with the crisis negotiators from both departments. According to the Twin Falls Police, there was an armed male inside of the residence.

“When officers were able to get here, they then contacted a person inside the residence who we have taken to safety and that person also stated that a person in the residence was armed with firearms and had been firing gunshots in the residence,” said Twin Falls Police Department Chief Craig Kingsbury.

The preliminary investigation indicates that there may have been domestic violence crimes committed against a female who was safely taken out of the home. When officers attempted to contact the armed male individual inside the residence, he did not respond to their attempts to contact.

After a six hour standoff, the SWAT team was given the go-ahead to make entry into the residence, upon entry they found a male deceased from a self inflicted gunshot wound.

Chief Kingsbury told KMVT that they will not be releasing any other information on this incident, and will not be releasing the names of the individuals involved.
