City of Mountain Home evacuated downtown area for bomb threat

MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — At 9 a.m. Thursday, January 11th, Idaho State Patrol, Mountain Home Police and Elmore County Sheriff’s Office responded to a bomb threat at the Elmore County Courthouse. A hand-written note was placed on the front door of the building, alluding to a potential bomb on the premises.
According to Mountain Home News, the threat led to the county buildings being evacuated and a soft lock down of Hacker Middle School, City Hall and Carr’s Home Lumber as authorities waited for bomb-detecting dogs from the Mountain Home Air Force Base and Boise Police Department.
By 11 O’clock, all roads were reopened, and the scene was cleared. Mountain Home News reports that law enforcement can neither confirm nor deny any information concerning today’s event.
The Mountain Home Police Department was in charge of the incident and the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of the investigation.
